Process Operations students were given the chance of a lifetime, to study in Singapore!
In the end, three students were chosen for this opportunity, Alex McBain, Nathan Bernard, & Wayne Tams (pictured, L-R) We spoke with Alex, Nathan and Wayne, and they are all very excited about this opportunity.
The trip is a 2-week educational- and cultural-experience at the Institute of Technical Education in Singapore. These Process Operations students will attend classes similar to those that they are attending here at SAIT, and get the chance to partake in social and cultural activities. All expenses are taken care of, including flights & accommodation. Not a bad deal!
When there, Alex, Nathan & Wayne’s time will be pretty action-packed, with most of their days already filled with classes, cultural and social activities. The guys will have some spare time though, and they also have the option to extend their stay in Singapore if they wish; an opportunity they are thinking about taking up while they have the chance. With exams coming up shortly after they return, the pressure will be on to study, study, study!
None of the students have been to Singapore before, and this will be Nathan’s first time out of the country! Seeing what life is like in Singapore was a big drawcard for all three, saying that they can’t wait to see what life is like on an island, go diving, and of course make some international business contacts. The energy industry in Singapore seems to be growing, said Alex, with companies like ExxonMobil & BP having a base there. The guys hope to be able to update their resume with references and contacts, and have an even better chance of scoring an awesome job when they graduate.
Have fun, guys.. We can’t wait to see the photos and hear your stories when you get back!
